How we work

The DAUG collects donations to support academic development and scientific progress in Afghanistan.

Decisions on the funding of projects and the awarding of prizes are made jointly by the DAUG Board. In accordance with the statutes, the DAUG Board is made up of members of Afghan and German origin in order to take account of the funding objectives within the framework of the association’s cooperation. The same applies to the many members and the Board of Trustees, who contribute their ideas and concepts from an Afghan-German perspective.

To apply for funding, applicants must submit an informal application to DAUG. The application contains a description of the respective project, the duration, the purpose and a calculation of the costs.

It is clarified whether:

scientific projects and quality correspond to the purpose of the statutes,

project costs can be covered by DAUG funds or whether cooperation funding is possible,

Added value for research, teaching and education at Afghanistan's universities

Decisions on the funding of projects are made by the members of the DAUG Board of Directors in a joint discussion. The aim is to make appropriate decisions on scientific project funding in line with the funding objectives against the backdrop of the political and academic background in Afghanistan.
