About the DAUG

The German-Afghan University Association (DAUG) is a non-profit association based in Bonn, Germany, which was founded in September 2002 by German and Afghan professors. The two countries have been linked by a long-standing academic friendship with regular exchanges since the 1960s and 1970s.

During this time, for example, a team of mainly German academics worked at the Kabul University.
DAUG emerged from the initiative of participating scientists to support academic reconstruction at Afghanistan’s universities after September 11, 2001.
